Dr William Heddle has been a Consultant at Flinders Medical Centre since 1983.  He is currently a Senior Consultant in the Department of Cardiac Services and Critical Care Medicine, Head of Arrhythmia Service and holds the academic status of Senior Lecturer in Medicine at Flinders University of South Australia.  He is also Head of Cardiology Ward at Flinders Medical Centre, the Medical Woard with the highest inpatient turnover in the hospital.

His Research interests are in arrhythmia management including antiarrhythmic medication, cardiac pacing and defibrillators, and intracardiac electrophysiology study and catheter ablation of arrhythmia.

He has published 46 papers in peer reviewed journals, and is actively involved in arrhythmia research and cardiology teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
